We have a large free car park with coach and bike parking, as well as disabled spaces and drop off zone.

There are bike rails located at the front of the Museum that bikes can be chained too.

Exhibition and Guided Tour with Ex-Miner Guide: A guided tour of the Pit Head, recreated underground coalway and coalface. Experience the atmosphere and noise of a working pit with an ex-miner guide. Entry to our two exhibition floors.

Exhibition and Audio Tour (Self Guided): A self guided tour of the Pit Head, recreated underground coalway and coalface. Experience the atmosphere and noise of a working pit. Our guides will be available on route to provide additional information and answer questions. Entry to our two exhibition floors.

A guided tour normally takes around 1.5 to 2 hours.

A self guided tour normally takes around 45 minutes.

We would recommend several hours to fully enjoy your tour, the exhibitions and the site of the Lady Victoria Colliery.

Between 1^st April and 31^st October our opening hours are 10am – 5pm, 7 days per week.

From 1^st November to 31^st March our opening hours are 10am-4pm, 7 days per week.

Refunds can be processed up to 2 working days before date of entry.

While the site used to be a working colliery, the Museum and tours do not go underground. There is however a recreated underground coalway and coalface for our visitors to experience what it was like underground.

Carers get free entry with relevant ID

Yes, please use our online booking system. Simply select the time you wish to visit and the FREE option for members/vouchers.

Please remember to bring your voucher/pass with you on the day for our staff to verify them.

Please feel free to take photographs on your visit. We ask visitors not to use tripods in the buildings.

Support and guide dogs are welcome on site. Other dogs are welcome in the outside grounds only.

We don’t currently have lockers or cloakrooms for our visitors.

Yes, we would contact you with further details if the Museum had to close unexpectedly.

In line with current Government guidance, you are no longer legally required to wear a mask when visiting indoor attractions.  We do, however, encourage use of our hand sanitising stations which are situated all around the site and please respect social distancing in close spaces.
