SUMMER OF PLAY

Bubble Soccer [FULLY BOOKED] Friday 16th July, 10.15-11.15, 11.30-12.30, 12.45-1.45

What’s better than football? Playing it in a bubble!! Grab your friends and come along for a fun filled game of bubble soccer!! This event will take place at Newtongrange Star FC! You will be met there by a member of NMMS staff.

Each session lasts 1 hour, max 15-20 children a session, and suitable for ages 8-12 years old. You can book as an individual or for a group of friends!!

Please note this activity takes place outside at Newtongrange Star FC – come prepared for the Scottish weather and please wear suitable shoes (trainers would be best!). Snacks and juice will be provided for every child attending.  FREE activity however, tickets MUST be booked in advance here, you are welcome to book for an individual or for a group of friends.

Kite Flying
Friday 23rd July, 11am, 1p, 2.30pm

Let’s go fly a kite!! Challenge yourself by building the strongest shape out of spaghetti and marshmallows! Then you’ll receive your very own Rainbow Flyer Kite which you can fly at NMMS before taking it home with you to keep playing with over the summer holidays!

Early session is a quieter session with limited numbers, suitable for children with additional support needs.

FREE activity. Please note this activity will take place outside at the Mining Museum, so come prepared for the Scottish weather and wear suitable footwear such as trainers. We cannot predict the weather and if it is too wet to fly the kites the activity will go ahead and you will be welcome back another day to fly your kites at the Museum. Snacks and juice will be provided for each child. Each session lasts 45 minutes and is suitable for ages 7+. You can book for one child or for a group of friends! Each child or group of children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Tickets MUST be booked in advance here.

 

 

Jo Jingles [FULLY BOOKED]

Friday 30th July, 10.30am, 11.15am, 12noon

Join Jo Jingles for a fun and interactive music and movement class! Jo Jingles is suitable for babies and toddlers – 3 months to 5 years old. This activity will take place in our outdoor marquee at NMMS, socially distanced, with blankets and cushions provided. We will also provide juice and snacks for all children. Each class lasts 30 minutes. You are welcome to book for you and a friend but we kindly ask for only one parent/guardian per child so we can accommodate everyone.

Pirates Ahoy!
Friday 6th August – 10am, 11.30am, 1pm, 2.30pm

You’re in for a swashbuckling time with Pirates Ahoy! Everyone is welcome to this exciting outdoor event – there will be a Pirate Ship inflatable obstacle course, treasure hunt (with real treasure to be found!), and then make your own pirate sword to take home with you! Arrr me hearties – don’t forget to dress up!

PLEASE NOTE: Activity will last for roughly 1hour. A pirate themed packed lunch will be provided for all children. All activities will take place outside – please come prepared for the Scottish weather and wear suitable footwear, trainers are best. Suitable for ages 5-12 years old, younger children can attend but the event is aimed at this age range. You can book for one child or for a group of friends but there must be a responsible adult accompanying them. We kindly ask for only ONE adult per household.

Teddy Bears Picnic
Friday 13th August – 10.30am-12.30 & 1.30-3.30pm

Today’s the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic! Bring the whole family along for our Teddy Bears picnic in the amazing grounds of the National Mining Museum Scotland. There will be outdoor games, Teddy Bear Scavenger Hunt, rainbow parachute, story time, and, most importantly, each child will receive a Teddy Bears Picnic themed packed lunch with a bottle of blowing bubbles to play with!

Please bring along your own additional food/soft drinks (no alcohol will be permitted), picnic blanket/camp chair or towel to sit on and, of course, your teddy bears!

PLEASE NOTE: this activity will take place outside, please come prepared for the Scottish weather. Complimentary tea/coffee and fruit for adults too. There are a limited number of picnic benches to use but we encourage you to bring your own blankets/camp chairs/cushions for a real picnic feel! YOU MUST BOOK ONLY FOR YOUR HOUSEHOLD. Social distancing will be in place. Free of charge but tickets must be booked in advance as spaces are limited.
