WE ARE OPENING ON THURSDAY, 17TH JUNE 2021!
National Mining Museum Scotland has been closed since November 2020 and with the go ahead from the Scottish Government that the cultural sector could re-open to the public, we are planning to reopen in mid-June 2021.
We will re-open to the public on Thursday 17 June 2021 with a phased approach starting with reduced hours over fewer days of the week. We will monitor the situation as we open up, survey our visitors and respond accordingly.
We have been planning and preparing to open our doors to our visitors to ensure we have the correct safety measures in place to protect our visitors and our staff, as well as an ensuring we have an interesting visitor offer to make visits to the museum as enjoyable and educational as possible. We have been working on our general visitor experience and our educational provision in an effort to keep our engagement at a high level.
We’re Good to Go
We have acquired VisitBritain’s Good to Go accreditation. This Industry Standard mark means that National Mining Museum Scotland has followed government and industry Covid-19 guidelines, has a Risk Assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid physical distancing.
Safety comes first and it is important that everyone follows the Scottish Government guidance to protect themselves and others. This means you must respect and adhere to the new guidelines and measures we have put in place at NMMS. As expected, your visit will feel a little different from normal but we hope you enjoy it. Moreover, we are delighted that you are interested in visiting NMMS to experience our exhibitions and new formatted tours and engage with your local heritage.
Please read all the guidance below before your visit. A pdf of our Visitor Charter is available to download here.
