Heritage Emergency Fund

National Mining Museum Scotland is extremely grateful to have received financial support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Heritage Emergency Fund – a package of support for the heritage sector in a response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

The grant allowed NMMS to open up following the first lockdown in a safe and secure way, offering an attractive and informed visitor experience that was new and easily accessible.  It enabled us to produce and erect new signage which was beneficial in signposting people to our site.  New café and kitchen equipment has been a great addition to the museum’s catering provision, enabling us to maintain hygiene and quality food standards.

As the museum is currently closed due to the restrictions, the equipment and developments that the grant has brought to NMMS will continue to help us reach new audiences and provide a safe and interesting offer to our visitors, whilst safeguarding our heritage for the future.
