National Mining Museum Scotland is a fantastic location for filming and has welcomed many film crews over the years.

We welcome different types of pre-booked filming, including  feature films, television dramas, documentaries, feature films and photo shoots.  We can accommodate film productions of all sizes with parking for a transport base, space for make up/green rooms and in-house catering.

We’re based in Newtongrange in the former Lady Victoria Colliery,  just nine miles south of Edinburgh, the nearest train station is just a 5 minute walk.

Whist we do accommodate filming, we are a visitor attraction first and foremost and therefore all filming will be scheduled to minimise distruption to our visitors.

Requests will be considered on a case by case basis and no filming or photography will be allowed on site without prior consent.  The museum reserves the right to grant or deny permission for filming and to determine the terms under which filming will be permitted.

If you are interested in discussing location hire or would like to arrange a recce, please contact our Marketing & Events Manager by email on marketing@nationalminingmuseum.com or by telephone on 0131 663 7519.  An enquiry form will require to be completed in the first instance (download a copy below).
