A Mine of Information

The National Mining Museum Scotland is based at the Lady Victoria Colliery in Newtongrange, which opened in 1895 and ceased production in 1981! Visitors can explore this Victorian super-pit and learn what life was like as a miner in Scotland. Our learning programme is available from nursery through to adult learning, with both in-person and digital activities available. Explore our learning pages to find out more.
